Utah Governor Gary Herbert sign House Bill 61, on Saturday.
The bill officially makes the school?s name Dixie State University.
It becomes the sixth university in the Utah System of Higher Education.
The president of the university said the faculty is excited about the new diplomas that will be given out in May, that will say university.
This is Dixie State's seventh name since its founding as the St. George Stake Academy on September 19, 1911.
